SDC RUBY PORT DOC Douro |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
SENORHA DO CONVENTO |
Spearheaded by Donald Ziraldo this General List recently-listed Ruby Port has an extremely deep intense purple colour with a slightly spicy, sweet, very bright, ripe plummy nose. On the palate it’s sweet but well balanced with medium bodied, bright, fresh, ripe plum-red cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, refreshingly tangy finish. The rounder companion SDC Tawny Port (cspc 398248) has a sweet, spicy, ripe plummy-caramel nose. It’s a bit more rounded on the palate with some plum jam and caramel-vanilla notes. It rated 88.5 points. Either would work well at a festive Thanksgiving dinner, perhaps as a before dinner drink on the rocks or as a dessert wine afterwards. |
