Tasting note: This light-amber malt initially brings a very oaky nose, but after a while there’s a lactic aroma that adds character here, and even a dash of toffee-sweetness. The body is medium, but the palate brings far more complexity than the aromas suggest, with hints of licorice, cocoa and maybe even a touch of rancio peeking through the spiciness that serves as the backdrop. The finish is very long and spicy. Score – 94. (Wine Enthusiast, ‘Best of Year 2000’) Price $ 198.55
