LES TERRASSES 2006 DOCa Priorat
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Alvaro Palacios
Very extremely deep intense purple colour. Very gently spicy, fresh, plummy, blueberry nose with some vanilla notes. Dry, fairly well structured, medium bodied, harmonious, ripe plum purée flavours with a bright, hint of cedar/sandalwood on the lingering finish. Try with roast beef. While in his 20s, [Alvaro] Palacios who comes from a famous Rioja winemaking family (owners of the Bodegas Palacios Remondo), apprenticed with Christian Moueix at Château Pétrus and Château Trotanoy. He then followed Catalonian René Barbier to Priorato, where he was so impressed with the ancient soils and potential for high quality that he decided to establish his vineyard in this viticultural backwater ... the belief was that there could be no commercial winemaking in Priorato ....the naysayers were proven wrong. “ (Robert Parker Jr., The World’s Greatest Wine Estates, 2005.)
