SPRINGBANK 10 YEARS OLD CAMBELTOWN SINGLE MALT SCOTCH Single Campbeltown Malt |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

SPRINGBANK |
Light gold colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, smoky, ripe lemon-plum-caramel nose. Complex, intense, slightly spicy, flavourful, smoky, baked plummy-vanilla flavours with a long, lingering finish. Much better than when it last appeared in Vintages (*+/**) on January 12, 2002 at $84.90. |

TASTING NOTE: Nose: A real young and old supershow, with soft adolescent tones from the barely and something much more brooding from the oak. Intriguing...; Taste: Ditto the delivery: a slight molassed feel to the juicy barley but the oak is dry and firm; outstanding spices, too; Finish: Some shards of citrus and lemon drop gives a lovely contrasting sharpness to the sweet barley. Balance: Now that’s much more like it!! The last bottling I had really was all over the show. This is still slightly Bambi-ish; But there is some real meat here, too. On this showing, I am beginning to change my mind about younger Springbanks. Score: 89 (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2010) |
