If you fancy single malts, but do not care for intensity, Auchentoshan offers the perfect answer: subtlety. (Michael Jackson’s Malt Whisky Companion, 6th Ed., 2010) Pronounced "och-n-tosh-n," which translates as "Corner of the Field," this classic Lowland Distillery triple-distills their whiskies. The Auchentoshan Three Wood has enjoyed at least ten years in Bourbon barrels, one year in Oloroso Sherry barrels and six months in Pedro Ximénez barrels, resulting in an intriguing myriad of characteristics.
