TASTING NOTE: The 2010 The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree (yes, that is its unexpurgated name) is a pure Malbec aged 50% in used French oak for 12 months. It has an attractive bouquet with notes of kirsch, boysenberry, vanilla and blueberry that is showy but well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied, with sweet sappy tannins counterbalanced by good acidity. The oak is well-integrated and there is pleasing silky smooth dark cherry, cassis and spice on the fiery but nicely balanced finish. Drink now-2015.
