SELECTION MALBEC 2012 Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHAKANA ESTATE
Very deep intense purple colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, warm plum-cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, spicy, plum-cherry flavours a lingering, sandalwood-cedar finish. Has 14% alcohol and 7 g/L residual sugar. Much better than the 2011 (**) released on May 25, 2013 at $19.95 - too bad about the $7 price increase (I guess it was the 2014 gold medal that did it). CSPC 219261

A Best Buy
Winner of a Gold Medal at the 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards. TASTING NOTE: Chakana's 2012 Malbec Estate (100% Malbec aged in new and used French oak for 18 months) exhibits a dense, saturated ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of charcoal, white chocolate, blueberries and blackberries intermixed with hints of forest floor and spring flowers. A wine of delicacy, suppleness and full-bodied power as well as tremendous harmony and purity, it will provide pleasure over the next 7-8 years.
