TASTING NOTE: The 2008 Tapiz Seleccion de Barricas is a blend of 40% Malbec, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 10% Syrah, fermented in stainless steel and raised in new French and American oak for 18 months. It has an opulent yet well-delineated bouquet of small dark cherries, blueberry, marmalade and fresh dates. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy, supple tannins that cloak the dense broody core of blackberry, blueberry and balsamic. The finish has a pleasing, grainy texture and it fans out nicely, showing impressive vivacity considering it has already had a little time in bottle. Excellent. Drink now-2017.
