TASTING NOTE: On the north east tip of Islay, Bunnahabhain benefits from the sea on one side and on the other, the pure spring water of the underground Margadale River. A natural deep amber colour, this non-chill filtered dram is deep, powerful and rich. Briny rather than smoky, it has a gingerbread like nose of brown spices and salted caramel. On the palate there are notes of honeyed-salted nuts, dried fruits, Christmas pudding spices, orange marmalade and oak. In the finish there's a tang of salt, vanilla toffee and sherry. It's just delicious with a dash of water. Score - 94 (Margaret Swaine, winealign.com, Jan. 19, 2015) Price $ 179.95
