TASTING NOTE: Bright red-ruby. Red currant and plum aromas are sexed up by wood smoke and sandalwood. Tighter-knit in the mouth than the nose suggests, but with lovely inner-palate lift and an intriguing floral element to the red fruit and spice flavors. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and good juicy, spicy persistence. I like the combination of density and energy here. Score - 90 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, March 2014) |
