GRAN RESERVA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2010 Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
SUR DE LOS ANDES |
Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, dusty, faintly herbal, apple-plum nose. Very dry, medium bodied, faintly spicy, apple-plum flavours with a very crisp finish. Youthful - needs time. Has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LCBSRVA117032 on the back label. A repeat of the 2010 (*+) released on June 27, 2015 at $18.95. I still can hardly believe that the wine I tasted was the same wine that was reviewed in the Vintages Catalogue with 91-points! HINT - you can safely ignore the ancient tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. |

TASTING NOTE: Layered berry and cassis aromas are a bit scratchy and gritty. This Cabernet feels saturated, pure and deep; flavors of blackberry, cassis, prune and chocolate are ripe and generous, while the finish is mildly herbal in flavor, with good length and build. Drink through 2018. Score - 91 (Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, July 2014) |
