ROSÉ 2016 Barossa Valley, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TURKEY FLAT
Bright rose colour. Spicy, apple-plum nose with some earthy dried red apple notes. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, spicy, ripe plum-apple flavours with a crisp, slightly honeyed finish. Ready-to-drink. Made with 95% Grenache with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Shiraz and 1% Mataro, it has 13% alcohol and 3.9 g/L residual sugar with lot number L0516 (bottled May 2016) and a screwcap closure. It’s hard to digest the 95-point tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue although Campbell Mattinson is right when he says: Drink By: 2017.

TASTING NOTE: Made with 95% grenache, but with input from cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and mataro. It's not far short of perfect; the drinkability factor here is immensely high. Rose petals, cherries and strawberries, ripe but not overtly sweet, with spice and herb notes and - the coup de grace to any attempt at resistance - texture like velvet. Drink By: 2017.
