RESERVA MALBEC 2012 Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SUR DE LOS ANDES
Very deep intense purple colour. Spicy, bright, plum-cherry nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, somewhat baked, plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, fairly high acid, lingering, sandalwood-cedar finish. Unfortunately, there is some bottle variation here - the first bottle on August 11th was fine, while the second bottle on August 22 was not!. This REPEAT has 14% alcohol and now only 2 g/L residual sugar (down from 8 g/L residual sugar) has a totally new lot number LMBRVA1-7041 on the back label. In fact, it is not the same wine (totally different) from the clove-driven 2012 (*/*+) with 84-points (tasted twice) released more than TWO YEARS AGO on June 13, 2015 at $15.95. TONY ASPLER / 88.5-points / BEST BUY - Dense purple colour; white pepper and blackberry nose; medium-bodied, dry, fruity and firmly structured with evident tannins on the finish. Tasted once on August 11. CSPC 208322

TASTING NOTE: Aromas of blackberry, balsam wood, lemony oak and forest floor lead into a fully stocked, hefty palate. Flavors of black fruits, licorice, herbs and oak finish bright but level. What this lacks in complexity is made up for in ripe berry flavors and overall balance. Score - 90 (Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, July 1, 2014) Price $ 15.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
