TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Anko Malbec Flor de Cardón is sourced, as all the reds from Anko, from the same estate vineyard in Tolombón valley in Cafayate, an east-facing vineyard at some 1,700 meters that ripens early. It's a lot less ripe than the wines I had in mind from previous vintages. When I asked, they told me they had harvested earlier and they had slightly higher yields; sometimes low yields can provide excess ripeness. It ends really tasty. 12,000 bottles produced. Drink date: 2016-2019. Score - 91 (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016) |
