006 RIVERSIDE ESTATE PINOT NOIR 2016 Río Negro Valley, Patagonia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ANIELLO |
Bright medium deep red colour. Slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry nose with some dusty sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, tangy, slightly spicy, high acid, cherry-plum flavours with a crisp, mineral-tinged, faintly tinny, slightly tart finish. Unfortunately, there seemed to be some issues with this Pinot Noir which was assessed from two bottles. The first had a faint hint of volatile acidity, while the second bottle had some faintly rubbery mercaptan notes. Has 12.7% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number IA070947 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: This is only the second vintage of this pale, ethereal Pinot Noir, even though some of the vines date back to the early 1980s. Perfumed, elegant and refined, with cinnamon spice, raspberry and red cherry flavours and the merest whisper of oak. 2017-2020. Score - 91 (Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, Argentina 2017 Special Report) |
