TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Malbec from Abras is produced with grapes grown in the Yacochuya zone of Cafayate in the province of Salta. The grapes grow at 1,700 meters altitude and were fermented in cement vats with natural yeasts. One third of the wine was put in used French oak barrels for ten months, while the rest was kept in the cement vats. It has a modern, fresh nose with a lactic touch and moderate spices over a core of blackberries, with an herbal twist reminiscent of tobacco leaves. The palate is quite silky, with [the] polished fruit of three or four different harvests-- depending on the year--which provides different wines to create a blend. 10,000 bottles produced.
