|WHISKY BARREL AGED DARK RED 2014 VQA Niagara Peninsula
|Vintage Assessments Tasting Note
|Deep intense purple colour. Spicy, sweetish, Bourbony, baked unripe apple nose. Sweet and sour, medium bodied, spicy, baked apple flavours with a lingering, peppery, coconut-cedar-stave finish. This unique “limited edition” REPEAT is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Dornfelder aged in whisky barrels. As I said last time, while some may actually like it, hopefully, I never have to taste it again. This batch has 13.0% alcohol (vs. 13.4% alcohol before) and 11 g/L residual sugar. One wonders how could the the VQA panel pass something this and why is it in Vintages?

|TASTING NOTE: This unique wine is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Dornfelder aged in whisky barrels. It serves up sweet dark fruit, spicy oak and whisky aromas and flavours, with bright acidity giving lift to red fruit character on the finish. (Vintages panel, March 2017)
