Not presented at the consultants preview in the LCBO lab. TONY ASPLER / 88.5-points - Dense ruby in colour; cedary, earthy nose of plum compote; medium-bodied, dry, mature, leathery, plum flavours with grainy tannins. This 100% Malbec as 14% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar. The last time this Malbec appeared in Vintages, it was the 2005 (*/*+) which was released on March 19, 2011 at $15.95 (# 556795). Prior to that it appeared four times since 2001, the best being the 2000 (*+/**) released on March 3, 2007 at $15.95. The 2006 was recently available at the SAQ for only $21.25 (# 11170494). TASTING NOTE: I love the licorice and dried berry character with hints of wet earth. Medium body, fine tannins and a bright finish. A classic producer from Mendoza that makes refined wines.
