GAMAY 2016 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer 13TH STREET
Deep purple red colour. Spicy, slightly sour, dusty cherry-apple-plum nose. Dry, medium-light bodied, tangy, very spicy, peppery, maturing, apple-plum-cherry flavours with a very crisp, rather malic, somewhat bitter, tiny, tropical fruit cocktail tinged finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. Unfortunately, this THIRD REPEAT is not showing as well as the 2016 (*+/**) last released on February 17, 2018 at $19.95. Sadly it has collapsed since originally released on October 28, 2017. You can safely ignore the 90-points tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. CSPC 177824

Gold Medal winner at the 2017 National Wine Awards of Canada. TASTING NOTE: This is quite lovely, combining ripe candied gamay fruit with complex pepper, herbal and slightly meaty notes. It is smooth yet juicy with fresh tart-edged acidity, a touch of sourness and very good to excellent length. Score - 90 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, Feb. 15, 2018) Price $ 19.95
