BARREL SELECTED MALBEC 2015 Pedernal Valley, San Juan |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PYROS |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Dusty, red licorice-tinged, slightly spicy, baked plum and dried apple peel nose with some cedary notes. Very dry, medium bodied, somewhat peppery, herbal, dried plum flavours with a lingering, sandalwood-tinged, peppery, high acid finish. Tasted twice. This batch has 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L18080 on the back label meaning that this was bottled well after the review appearing in the Vintages Catalogue, as well as, the astronomical 93-point medallion appearing on the wine label. TASTING NOTE: The picturesque Pedernal Valley produces some of the most aromatic reds in Argentina and this wild-herb scented Malbec is true to type. Grippy, savoury and dense with violet, damson and dark plum flavours, it's rich, spicy and built to last. 2018-24. Score - 93 (Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, Argentina Special Report 2017) |
