ROSÉ 2017 Monterey, Sonoma and Santa Barbara counties
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MEIOMI
Very pale day-glo salmon colour. Slightly spicy, very pleasant, fairly honeyed, ripe melon-apple-pear puree nose. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, slightly spicy, ripe melon-apple-pear puree flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, strawberry-tinged finish. This tasty, ready-to-drink, crowd-pleaser has 13.9% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. My only concern is the elevated price, it’s only $26.50 at the SAQ (#136798333). Mostly Pinot Noir, this rosé is crafted from grapes sourced from Monterey, Sonoma and Santa Barbara counties. The aim is to take the best of each region: the vibrant acidity and minerality of Monterey, the ripe red fruit and intensity of Sonoma, and the balance and texture of Santa Barbara. Expect ripe strawberry, watermelon and orange citrus tones. This refreshing wine will have superb versatility at the table; try it with pork ribs, salmon or grilled chicken. Price $ 27.95
