ESTELA ARMANDO BONARDA 2017 Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LA POSTA |
Very deep purple colour. Slightly spicy, juicy, ripe cherry purée nose with some vanilla-cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, spicy, slightly juicy, very tangy, warm plum-cherry-apple flavours with a crisp, gently cedary, harmonious finish. This 100% Bonarda from Mendoza has 13% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1818018181 on the back label. Not quite up to the recommended best buy 2016 (**/**+) with 88.5-points released on June 9, 2018 at $15.95. Note that Bonarda was until recently the most widely planted wine grape variety in Argentina. While not the Bonarda Piemontese, this late-ripener is related to the northern Italian Bonarda Novarese. |

This alluringly earthy Bonarda shows ripe berry fruit and chocolaty notes. It'll go nicely with mildly spiced bean burritos, or chicken thighs in a \"mole rosa\" sauce.
