BARREL FERMENTED MALBEC 2017 Patagonia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SAURUS)
This is one of 73 items (130 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. Any item not tasted is assigned an interim ZERO-STAR (-) rating and an interim 0-POINT proxy score until properly assessed. The 2012 (**/**+) was released on September 13, 2014 at $26.95. Here is my previous note: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, fairly intense, warm ripe plum-cherry puree nose. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, sandalwood-cedar-tinged finish. Smooth and ready-to-drink. Has 14.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 379313

TASTING NOTE: For Patagonia, this is a generous wine with the violets aromas of fully ripe malbec. Impressive concentration and length, but the polish on the long finish is what makes it really stand out from the crowd. Drink now. Score - 92 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 5, 2018) Price $ 34.95
