ZÌN FIANO 2017 IGT Salento |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PRODUTTORI VINI MANDURIA |
Bright light straw colour. Attractive, slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, floral, fresh melon-apple-lemon-citrus nose. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, quite spicy, harmonious, fresh, ripe apple-melon-cantaloupe flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid finish. This well-priced crowd-pleaser is ready-to-drink. Has 13% alcohol and 11 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19025 on the back label. By the way, locally “Zin” means sea urchin - the perfect match. |

TASTING NOTE: Sourced from vines over 20 years of age. Older vines, it is argued, can draw more specific impressions from the soil. This can have a huge impact on Fiano, which is a terroir-driven grape that produces delightfully aromatic, finessed, crisp white wines. This one has beautifully articulated orchard fruit with underlying herbs, smoky mineral tones and a hazelnut-accented finish. A native of Campania, Fiano is a rare gem in Puglia.
