BARREL SELECTION MALBEC 2016 Patagonia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
H J. FABRE |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, somewhat cedary, bright, ripe, plum-cherry cassis nose with some sandalwood-mineral-tinged notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, still youthful, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, high acid, gently cedary, mineral-tinged finish. Needs time. Has 14.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with lot number CV10119 11:35. The 2014 (**) last appeared in Vintages on January 21, 2017 with a different release code (#477364). |

TASTING NOTE: 100% Malbec. Lovely colour, deep and brooding, with a lovely purity of fruit and a young, floral, dark cherry nose. A little clunky on the mouth, but this will improve with time. Spicy on the finish, this really is a very good expression of the new Patagonia. Score - 95 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2018) |
