SERIE A TORRONTÉS 2017 IP Salta
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ZUCCARDI
One of 72 items (59% of 122 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. A REPEAT that last appeared in Vintages (**/**+) on June 9, 2018 at $16.95 and was Recommended. Here is my previous note: Bright very pale straw colour. Very spicy, honeyed, faintly mineral-tinged, attractive, fresh, ripe lychee nose. Dry, medium-light bodied, very spicy, honeyed, intense, fresh ripe lychee-apple-lemon flavours with a crisp, unoaked finish. Try well-chilled with spicy Asian cuisine. Has 13.9% alcohol and now 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L18-016-101 on the back label. CSPC 389262

TASTING NOTE: The 2017 Torrontés Serie A from Salta was cropped from a dry year that was slightly cooler than 2016 (remember, this is Salta, not Mendoza). The grapes come from vines planted at 1,800 to 2,000 meters in altitude. The juice, partly from direct pressing and partly with five hours of maceration, fermented at low temperature with selected yeasts, and the wine was bottled unoaked. It's floral, citrusy and spicy, with varietal aromas and an herbal touch of oregano. It's fresh and balanced, with a dry finish. This is one for the dining table. The wine was kept with the lees until it was bottled in December 2017. Drink Date: 2018-2021. Score - 91 (Luis Gutiérrez,robertparker.com, June 29, 2018) Price $ 16.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
