One of 89 items (64% of 139 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. Any item not tasted is assigned an interim ZERO-STAR (-) rating and an interim 0-POINT proxy score until properly assessed. The 2014 last appeared in Vintages (**/**+) on February 3, 2018 at $19.95 and was Recommended. Here is my previous note: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, baked plum-cherry nose with lots of sandalwood-cedar notes plus a touch of herb. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, fairly dense, slightly spicy, baked cherry-plum flavours with a lingering, cedary, fairly high acid finish. Hefty - a good match for a rib steak. Has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17201 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: A big bold Mendoza malbec with an impressive interplay of blue fruits and powerful tannins. Only just beginning to open up, but clearly has many years of life ahead of it. Score - 92 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 5, 2018) |
