ESTELA ARMANDO BONARDA 2017 Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LA POSTA
This is one of 39 items out of 88 releases not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. A THIRD REPEAT of the 2017 (not presented) that was released on July 20, 2019 at $15.95. Here is my previous note from November 24, 2018: Very deep purple colour. Slightly spicy, juicy, ripe cherry purée nose with some vanilla-cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, spicy, slightly juicy, very tangy, warm plum-cherry-apple flavours with a crisp, gently cedary, harmonious finish. This 100% Bonarda from Mendoza has 13% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1818018181 on the back label CSPC 261586

TASTING NOTE: From a 50-year-old vineyard in the Guaymallén zone, this bonarda has a delicious tannic texture that offers support, helping the wine grip the palate, which is quite the feat for a variety known for its smooth tannins. The rest is a burst of fruit juice with intense ripeness as well as intense acidity, which is also out of the ordinary. A refreshing bonarda, for roast pork. Score - 91 (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2019) Price $ 15.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
