RESERVE MALBEC 2017 Uco Valley, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SALENTEIN
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Very attractive, intense, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry purée nose with some cedary, fresh cassis notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, tangy, bright, intense, fresh, ripe plum-cherry-raspberry flavours with a lingering, high acid, mineral-tinged, elegantly cedary finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number LET18354 on the back label. Delicious value with finesse and elegance and yet with excellent structure - perfect for a rib steak. A REPEAT of the 2017 (not presented) that was released on July 6, 2019 at $17.95. CSPC 640854

TASTING NOTE: This may be a fraction of the price of Salentein's Primum Malbec (also recommended here), but it's just as good, in a completely different style. There's no spicy oak or tobacco-scented tannins boosting the fruit here; instead, it's just pure, fresh, floral malbec, purple and bright. Herbal notes add a cool spice, giving it a vibrant Andean feel. Score - 94 (wineandspiritsmagazine.com, Oct. 2019) Price $ 17.95
