In France judging the 2020 Concours Mondial du Sauvignon. Here is Tony Aspler’s review. Bright pale straw in colour with a lime tint; struck flint, toasty, spicy, baked apple bouquet; full-bodied, dry, toasty, orange and baked apple flavours with a note of clove. Great intensity of flavour and mouth-filling. Has 13.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar. Has not appeared in Vintages before.

TASTING NOTE: The one white in the Appellation range, the 2017 Appellation Tupungato Chardonnay comes from the Villa Bastías vineyard in Tupungato. It fermented for 25 days and matured in a mixture of French and American oak barrels for nine months. It has strong aromatics with plenty of balsamic notes and something herbal. It has a soft, caressing palate and is dry and serious but easy to drink. Very good value. It was bottled in April 2018. Drink date: 2018-2022. Score - 92+ (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, June 29, 2018) |
