ESTELA ARMANDO BONARDA 2018 Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LA POSTA |
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Douce Noir which originated in Savoie France is called Bonarda in Argentina. It has nothing to do with true Italian Bonarda. It’s juicy, fruity and low in tannin producing crowd-pleaser ready to drink reds. La Posta has a very deep intense purple colour and an attractive, still fairly youthful, spicy, bright, ripe black cherry purée nose with some vanilla-cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, well structured, gently spicy, fairly intense, harmonious, ripe, plummy-black-cherry purée flavours with a fairly cedary, harmonious, mouth-filling finish with nice lively acidity. Versatile, reasonably priced and ready-to-drink. This 100% Bonarda from Mendoza has 13.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L2005020189 on the back label. A REPEAT of the recommended bet buy 2018 (**+) that was released on August 8, 2020 at $15.95. |

TASTING NOTE: I love the raspberry and anise nose of this crisp and juicy red that shows what the original grape of Mendoza can do when a grower takes it seriously. A great picnic wine for drinking right now! Score - 91 (jamessuckling.com, March 27, 2019) |
