GLENFARCLAS 15 YEARS OLD HIGHLAND SINGLE MALT Speyside Single Malt, 15 Years Old
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer J. & G. Grant
Light amber colour. Spicy, slightly smoky, dried plum and crème brûlée nose. Firm, dry, solid, slightly peppery, somewhat aggressive (note the 46% alcohol level), gently smoky, baked plum flavours. Lingering finish. A bit of an acquired taste. CSPC 345199

One of our cover bottles this month, the Glenfarclas 15-year-old is described by Jim Murray, in his Complete Book of Whisky (1997), as complete a Speysider of that age as you are likely to find. Tasting note: House style: big, complex, malty, sherryish. After dinner. Many enthusiasts feel that this age most deftly demonstrates the complexity of this malt. Certainly the best-balanced Glenfarclas. Colour: amber. Nose: plenty of sherry, oak, maltiness, and a hint of smokiness – all the elements of a lovely, mixed bouquet. Body: firm, rounded. Palate: assertive, again with all the elements beautifully melded. Finish: long and smooth. (Michael Jackson, Malt Whisky Companion, 4th Edition, 1999) Price $ 89.95
