GLENFARCLAS 12 YEARS OLD HIGHLAND SINGLE MALT HIGHLAND SINGLE MALT
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer J. & G. Grant
This new “DRAM GOOD” release is in the JANUARY 2021 WHISKY SHOP but less than 200 bottles remain! Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining private, family-owned distilleries in Scotland. Produced since 1865 by J. & G. Grant, this is the 12th LCBO release of the 12-year-old since 2002 put of 38 age-designated Glenfarclas releases. Bright light ambering-gold colour, this has a very attractive, gently honeyed, slightly spicy, warm ripe plummy nose with some caramel-beeswax notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, harmonious, nicely structured, slightly spicy, bright, ripe plum-caramel flavours with a lingering, honeyed, faintly nutty, orange pekoe tinged finish. Works well in my ISO glass! Has 43% alcohol with lot number 26.08.20 back label. Perfect to celebrate Robbie Burns Day on Monday, January 25th. CSPC 464636

Tasting Note: Nose: a wonderfully fresh mix of grape and mint. Taste: light, youthful, playful, mouthwatering. Less plodding honey, more vibrant Demerara and juiced-up butterscotch. Finish: long, with soft almost ice-cream style vanillas with a grapey topping. A superb re-working of an always trustworthy malt. This dramatic change in shape works a treat and suits the malt perfectly. What a sensational success!! Score - 94. (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2018)
