APPELLATION SERIES WHITE CLAY SEMILLON-CHENIN 2019 Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CATENA
NEW in Vintages. Unfortunately, the wrong tasting note appears in the Vintages Catalogue. This 92-point tasting note by James Sucling is for the 2019 Chardonnay - not the 2019 Semillon-Chenin. This approximate 60-40 blend has a pale straw colour and a very spicy, somewhat honeyed, floral, warm, lychee-honeydew nose. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, ripe, apple-lychee-melon purée flavours with a honeysuckle note on the lingering fairly crisp unoaked finish. Quite ready-to-drink, it would go well with spicy Asian cuisine. It has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with abut 6.5 g/L total acidity. CSPC 19392

NOTE THAT THIS TASTING NOTE IS FOR THE CHARDONNAY AND NOT THE SEMILLON-CHENIN BEING RELEASED - TASTING NOTE: Refined and very fresh with a lemon and yellow-grapefruit nose that has a minerally, chalky edge, as well as fresh, pastry-like notes. The palate is super fresh and smooth with attractive density and fresh, pear flavors to close. Drink now [till 2023+]. Score - 93 (jamessuckling.com, April 2, 2020) Price $ 19.95
