CHARDONNAY 2020 Valle de Uco, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CATENA
A REPEAT of the recommended 2020 (**/**+) that was released on May 15, 2021 at $19.95. Here is my updated tasting note from a fresh bottle purchased at Vintages. Bright very pale straw colour. Intense, slightly spicy, gently complex, intense, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose with some faintly tropical, cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, tangy, spicy, ripe lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, crisp, cedary, mineral-tinged, fairly high acid, faintly tropical finish. Quite ready-to-drink. Has 13.5% alcohol and now 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L21015 on the back label. This is the 24th release of this wine in Vintages since December 6, 2003. CSPC 918805

LCBO Note Status Recommended by Vintage Assessments!
TASTING NOTE: The 2020 Chardonnay Catena is 90% from the Uco Valley, fermented with whole bunches and aged for up to eight months in barrels. Yellow with a golden sheen. The expressive nose presents notes of linden blossom, apple, creamed corn and hazelnuts. In the mouth, it's unctuous and indulgent but also has decent tension, a terse texture and long-lasting, bold flavors. The oak reappears on the rather concentrated aftertaste. Drinking window: 2021- 2027. Score - 91 (Joaquín Hidalgo, vinous.com, June 2021) Price $ 19.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
Tasting Date vintages release - December 11, 2021
Cases bought 352 (12 bottles per case)
