HIGH MOUNTAIN VINES CHARDONNAY 2020 Valle de Uco, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CATENA |
A SECOND REPEAT of the recommended 2020 (**/**+) that was released on May 15, 2021 at $19.95. Here is my updated tasting note from a fresh bottle purchased at Vintages. Bright pale straw colour. Intense, slightly spicy, gently complex, intense, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose with some very faintly tropical, cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, tangy, spicy, ripe lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, crisp, cedary, mineral-tinged, very faintly tropical finish. Quite ready-to-drink. Has 13.5% alcohol and now 2 g/L residual sugar with a brand new lot number L22010 on the back label. This is the 26th release of this wine in Vintages since December 6, 2003. |

TASTING NOTE: Ripe peach, dried mango, dried jasmine and buttered toast. It's full-bodied with crisp acidity. Concentrated layers of ripe and dried fruit and a vivid, subtly smoky finish. Drink or hold [through 2025]. Score - 92 (jamessuckling.com, April 8, 2021) |
