TASTING NOTE: Before the chardonnays from blocks appeared, this Alta was Catena's top white. And it's still a chardonnay that's impressive in its size and complexity. The fruity flavors blend with the mineral tones of the limestonerich soils where it comes from, and the texture is taut but deliciously creamy. It's a contradiction, but it works perfectly here. The flavors are long and deep with a sensation of voluptuous ripeness. 80% of this Alta comes from vineyards planted in Gualtallary in 1992, and the rest is from Villa Bastías, both in the Uco Valley, more than 1,100 meters high, at the foot of the Andes. Score - 94 (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2021) |
