SEMILLON 2018 Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer EL ENEMIGO
EL ENEMIGO continues to dazzle me with the outstanding quality of its recent releases. This REPEAT was the first Argentine Semillon to appear in Vintages and again it’s A REAL WINNER. Aged for 15 months French oak (10% new, 90% used) with wild yeasts, it has a bright light straw colour. The nose is intense and complex with lots of cedary, faintly nutty, lemon-apple meringue fruit. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, cedary, buttery, bright finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L-M494 3-22043 on the back label. We polished off a bottle at TABULE Queen on August 27 with their delicious Lamb Chops! Only 474 bottles available so move quickly. CSPC 17457

A Best Buy
TASTING NOTE: This has rich, lemon and lightly grassy aromas in a very fresh, pure and focused mode. Some freshpastry and chalky notes, too. The palate is succulent and piercing. Some smooth, lees-derived texture sits nicely around the fresh, lemon flavor with pastry-like resolve. Impressive textural complexity really makes this special. Drink over the next six years.
