Bottled on October 7, 2022 this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep purple red colour and an attractive, fairly intense, ripe, black-cherry-cranberry nose with some toasty, faintly savoury, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied, harmonious and nicely textured, it shows ripe, plummy, cassis fruit along with a lingering, gently cedary, bright finish. While it can still age, it is showing very nicely now and offers great value and crowd-pleasing versatility. An impressive red that comes in a hefty bottle at a great price. (Kylix)

The ENCIERRA estate belongs to the Eyzaguirre Echenique family, longtime vine growers in the Colchagua Valley. Fairly deep purple red colour. Intense, bright, ripe, blueberry-raspberry nose with some gentle cedar-tinged, slightly earthy notes. Dry, medium-plus bodied, ripe, nicely textured, juicy, crancherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, harmonious, gently savoury, lifted finish. This new Vintages release is quite ready to enjoy and would pair perfectly with juicy lamb burgers. (Glencairn)

Medium golden yellow colour. Very attractive, intense, sweet, honeyed, spicy, caramel nose with some bright apricot jam and candied orange peel notes. Sweet but beautifully balanced, medium-full bodied, velvety, spicy, delicious, candied tangerine peel flavours with outstanding acidity followed up be a lingering, bright, refreshing, Seville orange marmalade finish. This crowd-pleasing 100% Furmint has 10% alcohol and 147 g/L residual sugar.

Possibly the best yet, this new 2022 is the 15h release of Isole e Olena Chianti Classico in Vintages since 2003. Fairly deep purple-ruby colour, the nose is gently complex and faintly savoury with ripe, expansive, Damson plum and cassis-cherry fruit along with some toasty-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, nicely structured, and harmonious with bright, ripe plum-crancherry-cassis flavours are followed up by a lingering, harmonious, sandalwood-tinged finish. This tasty, well-balanced new blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L.5.25 on the back label. (Halpern Enterprises)
