GRASOVKA BISON BRAND VODKA Poland |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

Polmos Poznan |
Clear colour with a faint hint of yellow-green. Lovely, faintly sweet, wildflower and fresh cut hay nose. Dry but well balanced with a intriguing, slightly sweet, fresh broom taste and wisp of vanilla. Each bottle comes with a blade of wild bison grass. Yum! |

Though many attempts have been made to cultivate bison grass for commercial purposes, the tamed version of this aromatic grass has always lacked the pungency of the wild variety. Harvested in the wild by hand, the grass must be picked at the peak of its growth, but before it starts to yellow. The grass is spread on screens and then the vodka is made to flow through it to extract the desired flavours. The bison grass extract is cut with vodka, to each producer s desired flavour profile and colour. The resulting flavoured vodka is generally known as Zubrovka in Poland. Within each bottle is a single blade of bison grass. Our panel s tasting note: Aromas and flavours of fresh hay, chamomile, vanilla and coconut. (May 1, 2000) |
