CONNEMARA CASK STRENGTH PEATED SINGLE MALT Single Malt Irish Whiskey |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Cooley Distillery |
Light yellow colour. Intense, gently sweet, spicy, peat tinged nose. Solid, intense, very dry. somewhat peppery, spicy, fairly smoky flavours with a lingering very bright, ripe lemon finish. You may want to cut this one with a touch of filtered cold water. |

Tasting Note: Nose: Liniment and farmyard. Honey on hot porridge, before a mushroom cloud of peat blows your head off. Finish: A roller coaster ride of pepper, huge amounts of billowing smoke, then vanilla, mint and choc fudge. Comment: I just love this un-chill filtered version; it's fat, it's loud and it's fun. In this price bracket, there are very few Scottish single malts that can match it. Score - 9 1/4 (out of 10). (Peter Mulryan, www.whiskymag.com, Oct. 24, 2004) |
