Hine is a renowned Cognac house founded in 1763 by Thomas Hine. Six generations later, Bernard Hine strives to purchase both young and old quality Cognacs, exclusively from the two finest Cognac regions: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Hine blends the Cognacs and ages them in 350 litre Limousin oak casks. Their ‘Antique’ is a blend of Cognacs that are 20-25 years old. Tasting note: Genuinely beautiful, medium amber/tawny/ocher hue, excellent purity; the bouquet offers highly perfumed, aromatic, piquant, sassy scents of roasted almonds and citrus fruit supported by an undercurrent of creaminess; the nuttiness and distinctively racy style continues on in beguiling, warm, and friendly palate that never overburdens the taste buds … this cognac has been allowed to take a stylistic stand that amply comes across in fine fashion; would have been five stars but for the quick exit aftertaste. Score — HHHH (out of 5). (F. Paul Pacult, Kindred Spirits, 1997) Price $ 129.95
