Founded in 1643, Augier Frères is purportedly the oldest distilling house in Cognac. Sourcing their Cognacs exclusively from the Grande Champagne district, their Special Reserve is a blend of brandies ranging in age from 10-35 years. Many houses, such as Augier use house-created names for their older aged Cognacs, as the region’s rules about VS, VSOP and XO are too vague to properly celebrate the age of the products. For example, XO, the designation for the most ‘mature’ Cognacs, only has to be six years old. |
