In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the company (1827-1977), Marnier Lapostolle created this aged Cognac/orange blend. The Cognac, all from the Grande Champagne region, is up to 50 years old. Marnier adds distilled essence of wild tropical oranges and ‘the Marnier secret’ to the Cognac and ages it a further three years in oak vats. Our panel’s tasting note: Rich, dark amber colour with orange reflects. Nose of citrus, zesty Seville oranges and marmalade. On the palate, a cornucopia of tangerine, dark maple syrup, dried orange peel, nectarine, spearmint and a hint of black licorice, fennel and wood spice. Lively acidity balances out the sweetness. Complex, luxurious mouthfeel with a smooth, long, spicy and warm finish. (Oct. 2000) Price $ 199.90
