Bowmore 16 YEARS OLD Sherry Matured ISLAY SINGLE MALT 1990 ‘Limited Edition’, Non Chill Filtered, Natural Cask Strength
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Bowmore
Surprisingly light yellow colour. Slightly smoky, very faintly medicinal and yet elegant, caramel nose with cedar-sandalwood notes. Very dry, rather smoky, full bodied, flavourful, slightly honeyed, ripe lemon-plum flavours with a long, lingering finish. I much prefer this Sherry Matured 16 Years Old 1990 with 53.9% alcohol as compared to the released on October 14, 2006 (51.8%) at the same price. Note that the tasting note quoted in the Vintages Catalogue is incorrect as it refers to the 1989 released last Fall. CSPC 11254

TASTING NOTE: No frills here, just pure, unadulterated Bowmore. This Islay whisky speaks of its location in a very pure and natural way. I find invigorating brine, seaweed, green olive, and fishnets, along with the classic Bowmore peat smoke. All these flavors are softened by gentle vanilla and honeyed malt, while background tropical fruit add complexity. Score - 93. (Malt Advocate, First Quarter 2006). Price $ 127.95
