CHICOUTAI CLOUDBERRY LIQUEUR
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Maison de Futailles
Golden amber colour. Spicy, sweet, distinctive, honeyed caramel and dried ripe plum nose. Smooth, rich, sweet, medium-full bodied, caramel and plummy-chocolate flavours with a long, lingering, berryish finish. This “Liqueur de Mûres des Marais” means a liqueur of marsh blackberries or actually cloudberry (aka chicoutai in Quebec). The cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) is a slow-growing alpine or sub-Arctic species of Rubus, producing amber-colored edible fruit. The botanical name (chamæmorus) derives from the Greek chamai ("dwarf") and morus ("mulberry"). Cloudberry is the name for both the plant and the fruit. It has been over a decade since this product has been featured in Vintages. The price at the SAQ is $23.25 (SAQ code is 330621). CSPC 55053
