Montirius VACQUEYRAS LE CLOS 2005 AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Christine et Eric Saurel
This fine biodynamic blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah has an extremely intense purple colour. Slightly earthy, spicy, baked black cherry nose with hints of vanilla stick. Dry, tangy, medium to medium-full bodied, fairly extracty, very slightly earthy, ripe plum flavours with a lingering, slightly cedary finish. Try with robust flavourful red meats. Much better than the 2003 (**) released as an ISD on April 27, 2007 at $24.95 and perhaps even better than the fine 2001 released April 1, 2006. It has appeared under different cspc numbers. This organic wine contains 13 ml of free sulphur. CSPC 76547

A Best Buy
The fruit for this 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah is sourced from a certified biodynamic vineyard. Our Quality Assurance Laboratory has determined that this organic wine contains 13 mg/l of free sulphur. TASTING NOTE: Ruby-red. Elegant, precise scents of redcurrant and raspberry, along with smoked meat, Asian spices and garrigue. Suave red fruit flavors are gently firmed by silky tannins, finishing with excellent linear persistence. Impressive for its finesse and focus. This cuvee was called Clos Montirius through the 2004 vintage. Score – 91. (Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar, Jan./Feb. 2008) Price $ 28.95
