‘ROSEBANK’ 1990 Millennium Edition, Lowland |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Signatory |
This light straw coloured single Lowland malt scotch (‘Green Label’) was distilled on June 22nd, 1990. It has a very dry, firm, youthful, peppery nose with dried lemon peel notes. Very dry but well structured with white pepper and gently honeyed, faintly peaty, wild flower flavours. Lots of length and still youthful. A total of 1,250 bottles of this batch was produced. |

Closed in 1993, Rosebank is still cherished for its Lowland tradition of triple distillation. Independent bottler, Signatory, is one of the few places that still has casks of this ‘whisky-maker’s whisky’. I know one blender who, against his better judgment, had agreed to take part in a blind whisky tasting on the radio. When he heard that Rosebank had been chosen as the Lowlander, he all but pleaded not to go on air as he knew he would never spot it among the top Highlanders on show. At its best, Rosebank must be ranked in the top five of all Scotland’s malts for its sheer charm. (Jim Murray, Complete Book of Whisky, 1997) |
