(Last appeared in Vintages (***) on March 14, 2009 at $153.95. Rated as *** Here is my tasting note: Medium light yellow colour. Intense, slightly spicy, honeyed, ripe lemon nose. Dry, harmonious, slightly plummy, caramel-tinged flavours with a spicy, lingering finish. ) |

Malt Advocate Magazine's 2010 Distillery of the Year. TASTING NOTE: Nose: Youthful, with myriad citrus notes trying to outdazzle the gathering peat; shows great subtlety and fun; Taste: refreshing, with the barley insisting on behaving half the age it actually is. The smoke appears lethargic but grows into a spicy crescendo; Finish: lots of vanilla amid the dusty malt; lots of coffee fudge to balance the smoke; Balance: the best bottling yet with complexity a byword here. Score: 91 (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2007) |
