TASTING NOTE: Nose: leathery and honeyed; astonishingly soft and delicate; Taste: at first sweet corn, then a gradual buildup of spices, though the sweetness refuses to fade while a vague murmur of fruit can be found; Finish: long, lots of vanilla threading through, while the small grains and late rye are a treasure; Balance: just one of those effortlessly brilliant whiskeys that seem to get it right without trying. The best ERSBB I’ve come across as yet. Score: 94 (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2007) |
